Mission
IEEE-USA’s voice in the U.S. space policy debate is crucial. Space exploration and discovery are inherently tied to IEEE’s mission: To foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity.
Government space policies haven’t been as relevant and important to the American technology community since the 1960s and have never faced challenges on so many fronts:
- U.S. human exploration and space science missions are at a critical point, and the future of the U.S. civil space ecosystem is at a crossroads;
- Commercial space application growth is opening new frontiers of possibility for exploration and scientific advancement, pushing policymakers and regulators to keep up or be left behind;
- Spacepower strategic competition impacts all of us every day, with far-reaching implications; and
- Defense spacepower investments are transforming U.S. military capabilities and the industrial base.
IEEE’s U.S. members are uniquely positioned to help shape the policies that will govern these challenges.
