IEEE-USA Congressional Outreach Program (ICOP)

About ICOP

IEEE-USA’s Congressional Outreach Program (ICOP) is an extension of IEEE-USA’s Congressional Visits Day (CVD) program. It aims to engage YPs and Student Members with their Members of Congress.

ICOP events provide IEEE members opportunities to engage directly with congressional staff for their Senators/Representatives on critical tech policies in their local areas. ICOP events offer a unique chance to influence the future of engineering and technology in our communities by advocating for innovation and research support.

ICOP participants learn to:

  • Influence Policy: Advocate IEEE-USA policy priorities, ensuring that the voice of engineers is heard in Washington.
  • Increase YP Engagement: Strengthen ties with YP’s and students, empowering the next generation of engineers to engage in policy discussions.
  • Enhance Visibility: Boost IEEE-USA presence in key regions, showcasing the organization’s influence and impact on important policy matters.
  • Strengthen Partnerships: Develop relationships with those in the industry and corporate world, creating a collaborative ecosystem for advancing engineering and technology.
