To honor pairs of K-12 teachers and engineers that, through their joint collaboration, provide learning experiences to precollege students, support the education and curriculum requirements of their educational institution, promote and increase the math, science and engineering awareness of student participants, and/or support the educational goals of the IEEE and IEEE-USA.
Form of Recognition
Maximum of one team per year. If no suitable candidate is proposed in a given year, the award will not be presented for that year.
The nominations for educator-engineer partnerships are open to all public, private and parochial schools, community centers, camps, and/or other educational settings and IEEE members in the United States.
No current member of the IEEE Board of Directors, the IEEE-USA Board of Directors, the IEEE-USA Awards and Recognition Committee, or IEEE staff may be candidates, or nominate or endorse candidates for this award.
Basis for Judging
Selection shall be based on the effort, quality, and most particularly on clearly successful accomplishment and achievement in advancing the visibility and understanding of STEM fields by K-12 aged students/ participants.
Proposals for nominations of candidates for this award shall be made via the IEEE USA website nomination portal.
The IEEE-USA Awards and Recognition Committee shall evaluate all proposals and shall select the proposal which, in their judgment, is best and recommend the proposed candidate to the IEEE-USA Board of Directors for approval.
The ARC will develop and arrange plans for the presentation of awards, which will be done at an annual Awards Ceremony held in conjunction with a major IEEE-USA conference or at other appropriate venues, and with consideration to the request of the approved award recipient.
Citation shall be proposed by the person originating the nomination. It will be reviewed and modified as appropriate by the IEEE-USA Awards and Recognition Committee.
