VOL. 6, NUM. 4| 4th Quarter 2017

Happy Fall! We are delighted to provide you with your fourth quarter IEEE-USA ConferenceBrief newsletter.

We continue to have a great portfolio of IEEE-USA co-sponsored conferences and exhibitions--assembled over the past five years--intended to address diverse areas of policy and professionalism in IEEE's technical fields of interest. Please consider making a presentation at, or attending, some of them.

I often get emails asking why one of your favorite conferences is not in our calendar. Our IEEE-USA conference calendar only includes those conferences or events that IEEE-USA co-sponsors or exhibits. As always, if you know of a conference, seminar, or workshop you think IEEE-USA should consider co-sponsoring; or if you have an idea for a new event--locally or nationally--please don't hesitate to contact me.

I am looking forward to seeing you at these events!

Best regards,

Charles Rubenstein (c.rubenstein@ieee.org)
Chair, IEEE-USA Conferences Committee

IEEE Conference Database

With more than 1,800 IEEE conferences each year, it may be difficult to find the right conference for your participation. IEEE has a search engine for all conferences that are registered with IEEE. Use the "Search Conferences" block on the left to search conference dates, or calls for papers, using keywords. You can even narrow the search down to a particular IEEE Region or country.
Please note that until a conference fills out the IEEE Conference Exchange (ICX) registration form, and IEEE approves the organizational units that co-sponsor it, information about the event will not appear in the Conference Database.

Conference Date: 30 November-2 December
Baltimore, Md.
Web: http://sites.ieee.org/wie-forum-usa-east/

IEEE WIE Forum USA East 2017 in Baltimore, Md., focuses on developing and improving leadership skills for individuals at all stages of their careers. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear inspirational and empowering talks presented by successful leaders from IEEE Northeast. Emerging technologies will also be demonstrated, engaging attendees to facilitate discussion and potential advancement of STEM outreach class ideas. Its mission is to inspire and empower women as leaders in engineering and technology. Through a network of more than 500 affinity groups and 15,000 members around the world, IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) directly transforms the lives of hundreds of thousands of young girls and women via pre-university outreach, technical seminars, humanitarian projects, networking events, and educational programs focused on encouraging self-realization through the core ideas of the IEEE WIE mission.

The IEEE Signal Processing in Medicine and Biology Symposium (SPMB)

Conference Date: 2 December 2017
Philadelphia, Pa.
Web: https://www.ieeespmb.org/

The goal of the IEEE Signal Processing in Medicine and Biology (SPMB) Symposium is to increase the synergy between signal processing research and biomedical engineering. Signal processing plays a vital role in applications ranging from simple measurement equipment to sophisticated devices such as prosthetics. Advances in small low power processors and wireless communications are enabling a new generation of implantable and wearable devices that will allow subjects to be monitored and controlled continuously. The enormous amounts of data that can be acquired from such devices are, in turn, supporting a new generation of machine learning technology, based on big data principles.

The IEEE SPMB Symposium is a regional symposium intended to provide a forum where bioengineering and signal processing researchers can collaborate on emerging trends in signal processing. Topics range from algorithms for signal and image processing to electronics and systems for clinical applications. Student participation at both the graduate and undergraduate level is strongly encouraged.

IEEE Globecom

Conference Date: 4-8 December 2017
