President Biden has announced his nomination of Dr. Arati Prabhakar to serve as OSTP Director. IEEE-USA congratulates Dr. Prabhakar and strongly urges the U.S. Senate to confirm her nomination without delay. An IEEE Fellow and former head of DARPA and NIST, Dr. Prabhakar would be the first woman, immigrant, or person of color confirmed to head OSTP.

IEEE-USA is currently accepting nominations for its annual awards, given in recognition of professionalism, technical achievement, and literary contributions to public awareness and understanding of the engineering profession in the United States. The nominations portal will close 15 September.

This year marks the 13th annual IEEE Day, and it’s not too early to start planning events and activities to celebrate on or around the day. IEEE Day is an annual event that celebrates the first time in history when engineers worldwide gathered to share their technical ideas in 1884. One of the IEEE Day’s objectives is to show the ways IEEE members, in local communities, join together to collaborate on ideas that leverage technology for a better tomorrow.
