Jacob Beningo is president of Embedded Group. He is an independent consultant who specializes in the design of real-time, microcontroller based embedded software. He has published two books, Reusable Firmware Development and MicroPython Projects, and he writes a weekly blog for DesignNews.com focused on embedded system design techniques and challenges. William R. Kassebaum (Will) has more than 30 years working in the private and government sectors, with extensive systems & computer (HW/SW) engineering, executive management, program management, and entrepreneurial experience. Will is an experienced technologist and computer hardware/software engineer. He was the founding CEO of several Indianapolis-based technology companies, including Algaeon Inc., a local biotechnology startup company. His pioneering work at the Naval Air Warfare Center earned him and his team the prestigious National Performance Review “Heroes Of Government Reinvention” award, presented by the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Vice President of the United States. While working with private companies such as Escient, LLC, he has led teams that developed award-winning products. He holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, and has been a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Indiana. He is a past Chair and Director of the Central Indiana IEEE Section; recently served on the IEEE-USA Board of Directors as Vice President Career & Member Services (2014-15); was a corresponding member of IEEE-USA’s Entrepreneurship & Innovation Policy Committee; a Founder and Co-Chair of the Central Indiana Engineering Consultants’ Network; and is a Past Chair and member of the Alliance of IEEE Consultants’ Networks (AICN), an IEEE-USA committee.
Daryl Gerke, P.E., is the co-founder of Kimmel Gerke Associates Ltd., an Electrical Engineering consulting firm focused on EMI/ EMC (electromagnetic interference and compatibility) design issues. The firm was started in 1977, and has been in full-time practice since 1987. Daryl is also the founder of the JumpToConsulting (JTC) project, started in 2010. JTC focuses on how to start, build and operate a small consulting practice. Thanks to his engineering background, JTC is well suited for engineers. Daryl has a BSEE from the University of Nebraska, and he is a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.). He is an IEEE Senior Life Member, and a long-time member of the IEEE EMC Society.
