In 2007, IEEE-USA President John Meredith chartered the IEEE-USA History Project in anticipation of IEEE’s upcoming 125th Anniversary Celebration in 2009. His goals were to raise awareness of IEEE-USA and its contributions as part of the anniversary celebration and to build and maintain an accessible digital archive of historical IEEE-USA documents that would preserve and reinforce that awareness over subsequent years. Documents are regularly added that record the on-going efforts by IEEE-USA, and the work of its precursors, the IEEE United States Activities Board (USAB) and the IEEE United States Activities Committee (USAC), to advance the public good as a voice for sound technology policies and to serve the career and professional needs of IEEE’s U.S. members.
