IEEE-USA provides a variety of services and resources for members exploring or engaged in the practice of consulting.

Resources

This guide, developed by the AICNCC, is designed to help IEEE members who are independent consultants launch a new consultants network, if none currently exists in their respective areas.

To understand more about starting local consultants networks and making that local network an official IEEE Affinity Group please watch this short video presentation.

IEEE-USA’s Consultants Fee Survey Report provides a useful profile of typical, self-employed and independent technical consultants, including education, experience, business practices, median earnings and hourly rate, that can help consultants bench-mark their consulting practice. The reports are based on annual surveys conducted of IEEE members in the United States who identify themselves as self-employed consultants deriving 50% or more of their consulting income from independent work.

AICN NewsletterThe AICN Newsletter provides timely news to consultants and would-be consultants on how to start or improve your consulting practice. It contains stories written by IEEE members about the world of engineering consulting, highlighting trends in the engineering field and interviews with company executives about what they look for in a consultant.
