Overview
This webinar will cover opportunities primarily outside of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), although some resources for USPTO employment will also be noted. Positions are available in the U.S. as well as worldwide. The distinctions, requirements, and career paths between patent writer, patent engineer, patent agent, and patent attorney will be covered in detail. In particular, there will be discussion of how many engineers can easily move into some of these positions, and then progress into more challenging and better paid ones. The USPTO’s examination for registration (required for patent agents and attorneys) and law school (for those considering becoming a patent attorney) will also be discussed.
